Hi, GNU/Linux is an operating system, and its purpose is to help you get computing tasks done (which could include sending e-mail, developing websites. drawing up spreadsheets, whatever your important tasks are) When you say you want to learn GNU/Linux thoroughly, I believe you mean you want to be able to get your important tasks done quickly and easily in this OS. IMHO, you will only get that ability by actually using the system for enough time to figure it out on your own (a web guide can only get you so far, it doesn't know what applications you have in mind.) So if you are using the OS regularly and taking the initiative to go and find the help you need on the net, you are already doing a great job learning GNU/Linux.
PS: Having said that, if you're planning to do software development of any kind, learn to use Emacs as soon as possible- it's very useful for a GNU/Linux developer to be familiar with it. -- Mailing list guidelines and other related articles: http://lug-iitd.org/Footer
