Why are we supposed to enter username and password as plain text in the file apt.conf ? I mean suppose that I have a proxy to which I connect via some username and password,Does it not sound *unsophisticated to *enter user name and password in the file . I am am using Ubuntu12. Please let me know some sophisticated way that every time I run sudo-get update/upgrade etc , I am actually asked for my user name and password each time (like the stuff in Mozilla Firefox- you set the proxy and it asks for authentication each time). **
