Once you install the dependencies. Then after connecting dongle , you have to type following command from command line. "sudo modprobe usbserial vendor=0x1c9e product=0x9605"
I am using micromax MMX353G on ubuntu and its working fine. I hope it works. You can even connecting 3g with bluetooth, if dongle is not working.
