Hi Gaurav, You have the following options:- 1. The best option (which I follow where I have the reverse case, no net at work and net at home): If you have an exclusive PC at DU to yourself and it is a Debian based Distribution (Debian/Ubuntu/Mint etc):- (i) Install all softwares you want in the DU PC. (ii) Install APT on CD software. (iii) Using APT on CD software make an ISO file and copy it to DVD/USB (iv) Update your home PC using that DVD/ISO file as it shall have all the deb files.
2. If you are using few popular softwares only, get hold of a Knoppix DVD (It came with Open Source for You August as I remember) which has all those and install it on your home computer to learn. If you know of any other distributions which provide the same softwares you can use those as well. (I remember some people used to use Ubuntu Studio or Ubuntu Ultimate for these purposes). 3. Go to the distro repository and see dependencies manually. Download the package files and install them at home. This is doable for small packages. 4. Take source balls and try to compile yourself at home. 5. Download ISOs of the distribution for softwares if they provide them. (eg in case of debian in my experience one rarely needs more than 2-3 DVDs for simple softwares) 6. Get an internet connection at home if possible :) Pick what suits you best.
