Utk discus memang ada yg dpt bertahan dgn kondisi yg agak ekstrim (ancur2 an spt boss Roy bilang) tapi utk mengeluarkan warna yg bagus harus di air yg ph stabil, baru ikan akan nampak cerah (tidak pucat) .

Makanya kalau kita ganti air 90% s/d 100%, pasti ikan megap2x seperti kehabisan napas, karena memang kadar oksigen dari tanah mendekati 0. Perubahan pH kalau bertahap, ikan masih bisa toleransi. Tetapi perubahan kadar oksigen seringkali bisa membunuh ikan secara mendadak. Justru ikan2x yg berukuran besar yg sering mati mendadak karena kekurangan oksigen dalam waktu lama. Kalau air PAM yg ditakuti bukan pH-nya, tetapi kadar chlorine/kaporit terlarut di dalam air.
