Hmm, I think we can get away without having to look into the
package, as
the relevant metadata would be available "per archive" in an
aggregated
file (like Debian's Packages.gz).
There is a chance that the Packages file would have information not
present in the per package file (e.g., download url if the Packages
file is hosted in a different place, last-modified timestamp, vcs
info, etc). We should probably not assume that what we get from the
Packages file matches exactly with what's in the MANIFEST file or
whatever we wanna call it.
