2) Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA)
FAILURE MODE EFFECT ANALYSIS ( FMEA ) is a systematic proactive method
of identifying and preventing product and process problems
before they occur.
Unlike many other quality improvement tools, FMEA do not require
complicated statistics, yet they can yield significant improvement on
reliability, cost reduction and overall product liability.
FMEA techniques have been around for over 30 years, but the recent world
wide requirement for QS 9000 standards have made FMEA a must. The QS 9000
standard requires suppliers and manufactures for automotive industry to
conduct product/design and process FMEA in an effort to eliminate
failures before they happen
BENEFITS
-Understand the concepts of failure modes and their effects.
-Prioritizing failure modes and their effects.
-Determine the Risk Priority Number
-Selecting the right FMEA tool.
-Develop team dynamics in failure prevention.
-Step by step implementation of FMEA.
