I think you must write it with parens like:   (^(NODE foo))*   
try this:

cond    :       ^(IF
                        ^(CONDITION conds+=condExpression)
                        ^(THEN thens+=expression)
                        (^(ELSEIF
                                ^(conds+=CONDITION condExpression)
                                ^(thens+=THEN expression)
                        ))*
                        (^(ELSE else=expression))?
                )
