That a rule needs a VIP does not mean that the VIP (address) needs to be configured (use ifconfig to add it) in the ILB machine. This is not necessary. When the ILB machine gets a packet destined to a VIP, it will forward it to a back end server. This is just like a router forwarding packets. -- K. Poon. kacheong.poon at sun.com
