WINDOWS 2000 :

You can configure W2K to installwithout having to manually enter the CD key
during the setup process.

First, you want to copy yourWindows 2000 setup files from your CD to your hard
drive. You have to copy atleast the I386 directory.

Now go into the I386 directory youjust copied onto your hard drive and look for
a file called setupp.ini.

Right click it, select Properties,and remove the Read-only checkmark. Now open
the file to edit it.

Your setupp.ini file should readsomething like this:

[Pid]

ExtraData=6166656C736263737373B2574A0581

Pid=51873XXX

Replace the 3 X's (generally it'll be three zeros) at theend with "270". It
should now read something like this:

[Pid]

ExtraData=6166656C736263737373B2574A0581

Pid=51873270

That#8217;s it! Now you can nowinstall Windows 2000 without a serial number!

You should remember that doingthis might be considered illegalin Microsoft's
eyes so as such it's not something I would recommend to do.

Note: I don't know if this trick alsoworks for Windows XP or Windows Server
2003. Check it out and do let me know

OFFICE 2003 :

You can configure Office 2003(beta for now) to install without having to
manually enter the CD key duringthe setup process.

First, you should copy your Office2003 setup files from your CD to your hard
drive.

Find a file called Setup.ini (which is found in the\FILES\SETUP subfolder).
Right click the file, select Properties, and removethe Read-only checkmark. Now
open the file to edit it.

Your setup.ini file should readsomething like this:

[Options]

; Theoption section is used for specifying individual Installer Properties.

;USERNAME=Customer

;COMPANYNAME=mycompany

;INSTALLLOCATION=C:\ProgramFiles\MyApp

In the USERNAME section enter theregistered owner's name, do so also for the
COMPANYNAME value. Make sure youuncomment it by removing the ";" from the
beginning of the lines.

Now, add a following line to the[Options] section:

PIDKEY=ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXY

Lamer note: Use your own CD key, the abovestring is just an example (you
wouldn't believe the number of e-mails peopleactually send me telling me that
the tip doesn't work...)

(25 characters from your CD key,without the "-" seperation)

It should now read something likethis:

[Options]

; Theoption section is used for specifying individual Installer Properties.

USERNAME=ThomasMilala

COMPANYNAME=OnMy Own

;INSTALLLOCATION=C:\ProgramFiles\MyApp

PIDKEY=ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXY

Super lamer note: Again, use your own CD key,username and company info.

Save the file, burn the wholefolder that contains the installation files to a
CD.

That#8217;s it! Now you can now install Office 2003without needing to supply a
CD key during the setup process!

EXCHANGE2000/2003:

You can configure Exchange2000/2003 to install without having to manually enter
the CD key during thesetup process.

First, you should copy yourExchange 2000/2003 setup files from your CD to your
hard drive.

Find a file called Setup.sdb (which is found in the\SETUP\I386 subfolder).

open the file to edit it.

Look inside your Setup.sdb file for a section called

[ProductInformation]

In that section, look for a linebeginning with:

DefaultPid30=

If you cannot find such a line,insert a new empty line somewhere in that
section, and paste the new value inthe following format:

DefaultPid30=ABCDE-FGHIJ-KLMNO-PQRST-UVWXY

Lamer note: Use your own CD key, the abovestring is just an example (you
wouldn't believe the number of e-mails peopleactually send me telling me that
the tip doesn't work...)

Save the file, burn the wholefolder that contains the installation files to a
