Since there seems to be some confusion as to details of the dates on which
things have happened at Haley, I am posting a short timeline. This is to try
and eliminate any mis-information. I know of at least one mis-quote in the
press. Hey it's even been tough for those of us in the thick of it to keep
all the facts straight.

All times are CSX time.

October 22: 07:00 a signal suspension went into effect, CSX closed Haley
tower and vacated the building. The operators were moved to a temporary
office in a trailer about 200 feet south of the tower. At approximately
09:00 the wires to/from the building were cut, physically taking the
interlocking and tower out of service. However, the operators still had
control of the plant. Right after the wires were cut, the call came to "put
it back". That still makes me chuckle. <grin> The tower was removed
from CSX property at 13:00.

October 24: The old physical plant, switches, etc., in front of where the
old tower stood was replaced with one switch; East Haley. The rest of the
new interlocking is stretched out between two street crossings about 1/2
mile west/south of East Haley at West Haley. The operators continued in
control of movements through the plant per general order 118 issued on
October 21. G.O. 118 had lengthy instructions and required all trains to
stop at the "stop" signs at Haley and get permission from the Haley
operators to cross through the plant.

October 30: After all signal testing was complete the SB dispatcher in
Jacksonville took control of BOTH Haley interlockings. The operators now
control nothing. They still O.S. trains by on the train records, call crew
vans, "work" the yard list for Baker yard, watch the signals change aspects,
etc. Basic clerk type stuff.

FWIW, the operators will be working in the trailer until at least November
21; 30 days after they received notice the job was abolished.

Hope this clarifies things a little. Then again it may all be clear as mud
now.
