Since somebody mentioned the term "scavenger" the following may be of interest. When we dismantled Haley we saved the interlocking wiring in tact! We also have the old train order signals from both RR's and wiring; all the relays used to run the interlocking along with diagrams; at least one of the NYC style signal masts (it walked over to our storage area on Tuesday) and numerous telephone type poles (some of which are brand new and are 30ft tall). We are also working on a few other items like bungalows; another home signal from the C&EI side; parts from the original movable point diamonds (laying in the weeds east of the tracks) and anything else that happens to walk our way. Our goal is to eventually be able to recreate most of what was in use and possibly, with the help of Rose Hulman students, creat some computer simulations to use while making the old GRS Model 2 machine run it's paces. I'm still trying to figure out how we're going to get those NYC signals 30 feet up and be able to look at them from our museum without getting in trouble with CSX's crews. BTW, anybody got a crane? 73, Bill Foster President Haley Tower Historical & Technical Society www.railcenter.com/haley ------------------------------------------------------ This is the Illiana Railroad Discussion List.
