In "Options" you need to ensure 'Save Sent Items' is checked AND ensure you have a valid 'Save sent messages in folder' selected.
I chose 'INBOX.Sent' and it works well for me in IlohaMail and in Thunderbird. This is the default 'Sent' folder in Thunderbird. I also chose 'INBOX' as my 'Root Directory' as well as INBOX.Trash and INBOX.Drafts for trash and drafts.
