Rajarshi,

Are you absolutely sure that the model is a 4540 and not 4550? (a 4540 is
not supposed to have an internal Zip, but a 4550 should) Anyway here is
some info which you may find of some use:

CPU -->                 233 MHz AMD K6
L2 Cache -->            256K
Chipset -->             Intel 430VX
Video -->               S3 Trio64 V2-DX
Audio subsystem -->     ESS AudioDrive
Modem --> K56flex Internal modem on one of the two available ISA slots

Suggestions --->

1. use the S3 Accelarated X-server that comes with Redhat 5.2 to get best
output
2.Make sure that you have selected the mouse type as PS/2 during
installaiton. (As for the serial ports try out with /dev/ttyS[0-3] as
well....*throwing stones in the dark* ;-)

The Lexmark 1000 printer is a Winprinter, which means it uses the
proprietory MS Windows sub-systems to drive the printer. Bottomline is that
with Linux, the printer is just an ugly piece of useless deadweight
occupying space on your desk (or whatever).

AFAIK, an internal Zip drive uses an IDE ATAPI floppy interface (although
also I have heard that there is a version that appears as a normal
HDD)....will have to take a look at this baby before making any comment.

HTH,
