The best utility i've come accross for downloading and mirroring purposes is
*wget*. Although wget does not have a sleek GUI interface ..it is one of the
best tools for downloading ( both usinh http and ftp ). If you fancy a GUI
downloading tool for Linux give *IglooFTP* a  try
