About bengali fonts....there is some work going on in the US... if the name "Bangali
Adda"
(http://www.bengali.org/home_e.html) means anything to you, you
will know what I mean. Anyway, these guys say that they are supporting MS Windows as
of now, and that development under
Unix is on....I am planning to download the fonts (True Type) and see if I can do
anything with them under Linux....I
have used these fonts under Windows in old days with a degree of success. ... I will
send an email to Sanhita Mallick
(the webmistress) and see what they are up to.

--Indra.

PS. IIRC there were threads on Linux-India (months back) discussing the development of
local language support for Linux
in India...don't think anything has come out of all that discussion.

PPS. There seems to be a Bengali Font Users Group <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ML at the above
site, you might try asking a few
questions there. Bangali Adda used to be quite a helpful forum in the old days (ie,
1.5 years back :).
