Are you guys looking for a solution or just trying to get your hands dirty at
programming and protocols. If you are looking for a solution to chat with each
other then why don't you take the IRC route + IM (i.e. notify using IM and
move over to IRC).

BTW does anybody know how to turn on the UNICODE features in Linux ? Is there
any distributions solely based on UNICODE ?
