Even I had a bit of a problem initially setting up Kppp to
dial out for me. I guess you have put in a script to do the
sending in of login name etc. So edit the 'Account' that you
have setup and set the 'Authentication' to 'terminal based'
and NOT 'script based'. It works for me this way. Although
Kppp WILL tell you that there is a lock in /ete/ppp/options
Do not bother about that, it is a Win9x like aspect of KDE
which makes it want to screw up most things in your life !
Just let it be and hit the "Okay" button and the rest works
like a dream !

Don't feel bad about using taking the easy way out......
Even my Dad absolutely REFUSES to resort to my normal
script+minicom way of logging on as he finds Kppp way
easier.... But do try out getting online through minicom. It
is much more configurable and you DO end up having that
feeling of being in control !...
