Dear friends,
I could have written "Subject says it all!", but that will confuse most of you, since
you were not on-site to see the
events unfolding fast-hand. It seems that I'm turning into some sort of an Oracle (not
the RDBMS, either refer to greek
mythology or else see the "Matrix" for a modern day interpretation *grin*), since the
media turned up as I had
prophesied. ;-) The Eastern Age section of Asian Age carries the news today (see -->
"Puja online for those abroad").
Doordarshan camera crew came, saw and were conquered, they are going to air the tape
today at around 5 PM.
All this fame and attention is not always sitting easy on Arup's bony shoulders,
although he is trying hard to be cool.
Unfortunately he sometimes experiences a sudden, spasmic tightness of his clothes ;-)
However, people where the Puja
is being webcast from, have gone totally crazy. They tried their damndest best to make
a Khudiram of Arup, they wanted
him to shoot the entire sequence of "bishorjon" from the roof of the truck-driver's
cabin even when it was in motion.
Fortunately saner influences present there acted as counter-balance and kept him from
trying something so definitely
suicidal.
OK, enough of the jokes.... the fact that mattered most was the number of visitors to
the site. It was a stupendous
response that exceeded all our expectations. On Asthami day alone there were around
8000 hits, and for that many of you
deserve a very big thanks for having forwarded the mail I had sent to you, to all your
friends and acquintances here
and abroad. Thank you all very much.
It is really a moment of pride and joy that our state of West Bengal has been the
trendsetter in this regard. For us,
the LUG members, it is far more important that Linux was an important ingredient of
this solution. Windows NT, as usual
acted funny on few occasions. But for the last 5 days the Linux box at Astral has been
running unattended, without
requiring any supervision, not even a single remote login.
This is probably the last post you are going to see from me on the topic of the
webcam. Thank you all once again for
your tremendous support and encouragment.
With best of bijoya wishes to all of you and your loved ones.
