Check your Xf86config file and comment out the desktop size entry. typically
it is 1280 x 1024.Again , it would be a good idea if you told the list what
Vider card you are using. I hope you are not sitting in VGA Mode. In that
case the solution is . different.Red Hat uses a tool called hwdiag. Run it
and tell us the Video Card name if your problem is not solved by commenting
out the xf86config entry.
better Still , use the SAX tool - Suse Advanced Xconfigurator for 4 step
Wizard based X configuration and forget about problems like Display size and
refresh rates et all. Keep your monitor manual handy .
I do not Recommend running SuperProbe as i have very rarely seen it
correctly reading the video card. Use HWdiag or cat /dev/pci to find which
video card you use if you still have problems after using SAX .
