My dear friends,
So, at last Y2k is finally here .... Here in Calcutta, it is already 1st
January, 2000. Actually its way past midday :-) Hope you all had a great
time last night...I certainly did!
The last year - 1999, has been pretty eventful for many of us... for
some of us it has literally been a water-shed. We met new people, made
new friends, switched to better jobs, earned more and spent more, some
of us got married (of course whether these individuals finally got
domesticated is a different issue ;-) Many of you recieving this mail
finally went online during the last one year <a-very-big-event (tm)>.
And perhaps the most important factor to many of us.... It was a GREAT
year for Linux.... We had local LUGs being started all across India, we
had IT.COM '99, Jon "Maddog" Hall came to India.... As with many others,
all my boxen successfully did the Y2K date roll-over. And of course, the
ordeal finally ended for the passengers of the hijacked IC 814.
This year - 2000, if indications are anything to go by, promises to be
even more hectic, more eventful, so wishing you all a great time ahead
-- A VERY HAPPY Y2K.
