To Inigo & everyone else:

I understand that it was pretty irritating to receive those messages. However Chitra
wasn't entirely responsible
personally for what happened. The sequence of events:

1. Rutvik's mail client has been sending messages using "Return Receipt" header, which
lies at the base of the whole
issue. Shanker has already asked Rutvik to make the changes needed.

2. NIIT Training Centres accross India have mailer.niit.co.in as their primary MX
host. This m/c is running an
antiquited version (it dates back to approx 11th Nov. 1997) of Connect2-SMTP version
4.32 (an evaluation copy at that
;). I was told a couple of months back that NIIT was in process of overhauling their
mail server setup (moving to
Exchange server IIRC), evidently that hasn't yet come through.

It is this brain-dead Connect2-SMTP mail routing s/w which is mangling the
"Return-Receipt" header info, so that instead
of pointing to Rutvik's addy it is pointing at [EMAIL PROTECTED] This is why
Chitra's return receipts are coming to
the list.

To Rutvik: check your MUA settings ASAP or will be forced to bounce your mails to me
for manual clearing out of the
troubling header before allowing it through.

To Chitra: try to see if your mail client allows you an option of not to send a return
receipt.... if not try switching
to a better, intelligent MUA.

<POLICY>
1. Mails to the list must be sent without "return receipt" header, failure to comply
with this will result in bouncing
of the messages to the ListAdmin.

2. If you are using Auto-responders with one of your accounts, don't use that account
to subscribe to the list.
</POLICY>

--ListAdmin.
