i don't exactly know what standar/level you are working at and what the
complexity of your equations are.
But for parametric equations (which have a standard form .. eg Quads, Cubes,
Diffs etc .. most of them do), you could just parametrize the
equationconstants as input parmeters. 
Otherwise, I guess you will have to go Arup's way..umm.. slightly tough :|
