folks,
here's a proposal:
can we buy the RH 7.0 jointly for ilug-cal? the professional version is
nearly US$180/-, which is approx. Rs.8280/-. i cannot afford it
individually, and i think many of us are in the same boat. it's a 10-cd set,
of which 5
cd-s are applications. we could pool the money for the purchase, and then if
anybody needed individual copies, we could copy them out. i know a place
where i can copy cd-s at the cost of blank cd-s, approx Rs.65/- per cd. it's
a friend's place, so he doesn't charge me for the service. he'll be hapy to
help any friend of mine.
i think this can greatly increase access for those who cannot afford to buy
this individually.
and since all redhat inclusions are gpl-covered (except for netscape and
staroffice; but sun is going to release the staroffice source soon), i think
this will be quite legal. but i'm not sure about this - we have to find out.
what do you think, folks? PCQ will distribute two cd-s maybe in november,
but i want those 8 other cd-s, too!
i have received a redhat newsletter with the details of RH 7.0, and i am
attaching it with this for those who would like to have a look at it.
