[ilug-cal] Configuring sound card

Can anybody help me with this! I have a SIS6326 motherboard with a onboard CMI8330/C38 - 16 bit sound card. It is PNP & "sndconfig" detects it as such. But the 'sample sounds from it can not be heard. When I manually configure the resources - cda's start playing but mp3's refuse to - as the synth can not be configured. I have checked with the windows installation where everything is working fine. Tapas
