hello,
run "sndconfig" as root if it detects the card then
good if not go to 
ftp://ftp.rfc822.org/pub/mirror/ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/
(ALSA stands for Advanced Linux Sound Architecture.)
and download the latest ALSA driver unzip it and read
the 'INSTALL ' file ....and proceed accordingly ...as
far as i know the chipset you're talking about is
supported .....
