Hi all:
My first mail to the list after a loooong time. Life
has been taking me through a rough-and-tumble ride
over the last one year. I really hadn't been able to
take time out for the LUG although I had felt bad
about it in "copious" spare time ;-)
I have to admit though that my outlook towards linux
has changed quite a bit. I am no longer the eager
beaver linux hacker who wud jump on any unsuspecting
Windows user and try to convert her to using linux. I
still wear T-Shirts to office, but they aren't always
about Penguin Power. However, I haven't descended the
path of corruption so far as to sport a MS
BizTalk/TechEd tee ;D
And yes I still treasure my original PCQ Spring '96
CD... and no, I don't drink beer anymore, these days
it is more likely to be Smirnoff ;-)
I am mixing-and-matching Linux with MS technologies...
like custom-functionality extended PHP with IE 5.5.
And before any one snarls at me for forgetting
Konqueror, yes, I LOVE Konqueror, but I can't use it
for a client who wants to use features specific to IE.
The last year has been pretty eventful for us all,
Partha-da (Dr. Partha Pratim Ghosh) has moved to
Bangalore do research, Darshan (Shah) has moved to
Hyderabad, Arup (Kanjilal) has moved to States,
Shourya (Sarcar) has moved to Bangalore, so has Ketan
(Mehta).
It seems I am one of the ILUG-Cal old-timers still in
Calcutta, but how long I will be in here is a question
even to me.
I want to us to re-group and re-start our monthly
meetings. But I want the more "in-town" members to
take a pro-active stand in the LUG events.
Abhijit (Bhattacharya) can u get in touch of Dr.
Ananda Dasgupta of SXC in this regard for syncing our
meetings with SXC authority?
Sorry for rambling... please excuse... writing after a
long time... losing my touch.... yada yada yada... ;D
