Dear Rajan,
Your problem is that the first/primary boot partition
you created is too big to be handled by LILO and
because / (system root) is not created within 1024
cylinder limit that's why your Linux kernel is not
able to mount it.
Now the solution is when you are creating partitions
under Linux at the time of installation using Disk
Druid, do make the system root partition (/) first and
then create rest of the partitions and try that your
system root partition comes under first 1024 cylinder
area.
Another way out is to use fdisk and tell exact number
of sectors and cylinders to avoid LILO boot problem
which causes unmountable / partition.
