Please - there is enough ignorance and hate mongering in this country
already without your adding to it.
Your bias or your ignorance of the situation here as well as in the politics
of this extreme tragedy is obvious from the the text of your message.
i) please capitalize "arabs"
ii) "arabs" includes several 100 millions of people from 10s of different
countries, from 2 different continents (aside from the worldwide diaspora),
of at least 3 different "races", following at least 3 different religions;
the entire sum total of hijackers, including those who plannned and financed
it must number at 20 or 30 - thus to say "arabs" did it almost the same as
saying "some people did it" i.e. a statement whose information value (as
opposed to hysterical, accusative value) is minimal to non-existant - hence
not worth making, - other than to whet one's bias and hatered - especially
on a public forum.
iii) you possibly do not have experience of having lived in the US
especially in times like this but you should realize that most - say 80% -
Americans cannot distinguish between "arabs" and Indians (not indians) and
do not care to - like angry children they simply want to lashout at
something, anything that in there minds resemble the "enemy" even slightly.
It matters not if they victims of this hatred are not even remotely related
to the issue.
So all Indians who live here and feel safe because we are not "arabs" should
think twice and thrice and take the same precautions as if we _were_
"arabs". I speak from experience - having lived through the Iran hostage
crisis and the first few days of the Oklohoma bombing. I do need to mention
that there is a high degree of effort from police and other officials to
prevent lynchings and harassment against all residents here.
iv) finally, this is a forum for discussing technical matters specifically
relating to the Linux OS and its use in Kolkata - not a forum for any other
information. Let us keep it that way. I am writing this in an attempt to
put an end to this thread here and will NOT respond to any replies.

yes so do I - especially a misdirected war that will bring in its wake more
similar tragedies. Remember that is is most likely a reaction from a group
who came into existance from CIA funding.
Of course, that is NOT a justtification by any means - that is not the
point - somehow even our leaders here are unable to detach themselves enough
to think about how to prevent similar incedents in the future rather that to
give vent to knee-jerk jingoistic reactions or to their perceptions of such
popular demands.
Besides who will they "fight". Afganistan has NO places left that has not
been bombed 20 times over first by the Soviets and then by themselves. They
were reduced to shelling 2000 year old statues recently !
