To Raja (and others)
A few of things:
1. You are absolutely right that this is indeed
OFF-TOPIC as far as this list is concerned. W.R.T to
our list policies, occasional OT postings are OK so
long as the {OT} prefix is added to the subject line.
2. I had noted the OFF-TOPICness of the topic in the
very first post to this thread, but keeping in mind
the extraordinary circumstances, I had preferred to
say nothing and simply keep a watch on the
developments.
3. Your attack has been against a member of the LUG
who on numerous occassions has made significant
contributions to this community, mostly by openly
sharing his knowledge and expertise with everyone. Not
that being all that puts him beyond reproach, except
that you have interpreted Arup's post entirely
out-of-context, and have posted a reply of rather
immoderate language. I find it unnecessary, nitpicking
and combative, and of a tone we could all have done
without.
4. For nearly 2.75 years I have served this community
as its ListAdmin by the general approval of the
members. Till date no one has ever complained about my
style of functioning (or lack thereof) or that I don't
know my job. I have seen this list grow from just 3
members to the present 150+ As the ListAdmin, it is my
job to stop a thread from spiralling out of control.
And I have had stepped in a number of times in the
past to do just that. Therefore, if you feel that I'm
not doing my job or is incapable of handling it,
please be polite enough to say that openly on the
list, rather than approach the matter in the covert
way which i feel you have chosen to adopt (w.r.t your
statement marked "iv").
