Dear Friends
The revamping of the website was much needed. I have
gone through both
Indra
and Siddharth's mail and would like to put forward my
suggestions.
Much of the links as suggesated as OK.
>However the "about us " link is non essential. We are
not a corporate
entity and people generally do have an idea of what a
linux user
association
is. Hence I think that the above link is redundant.
>Also in contact information, give a single point of
contact. Get the
address of an member who is willing to provide this
service. Remember it
would be difficult to be always available to provide
information. Also
contact email addreses listed on the website should be
[EMAIL PROTECTED] which can then be redirected to
the proper personal
accounts.
>The project section is welcome and we need to do
something on the lines of
sourceforge. Let the user list their own projects!
>Their should be an article section in which we can
put in the contents of
siddharth's help section. The article section should
be categorised.
>I think that the index page or home page should have
the bulletin board
(in
place of the CD replication page it presently has), in
which the members
would post their comments/finds regularly. This would
satisfy the need of
an ever changing dynamic home page and is the general
style followed in 90%
of the sites of this type.

I suggest that we use PHP nuke as the basis of making
the website (download
from source forge) as it more or less all the
functionalities we require.
The interface can be customised to give it a linux
feeling. I shall try to
get two three designs which we can use for our site.
I still to know the database and the platform we are
using? Can Indra
lighten me on it.

Your views and critics are welcome.
ciao
Chayan
