Could you provide me a URL reference to this extremely dramatic business change at Sun? I would have expected this to have been plastered all over the Linux media, but I've seen nothing about it so far. The last announcement I saw from Sun that referenced the GPL was the OpenOffice (from which the new StarOffice will be derived), and this was even the LGPL. From: http://www.openoffice.org/FAQs/main_faq_new_p4.html OpenOffice.org uses a dual license strategy for the source code. These licenses are the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) and the Sun Industry Standards Source License (SISSL). This licence, for instance, would still not licence you the ability to take a StarOffice CD and legally duplicate it, even though StarOffice is available for Free Download off of their website: http://www.sun.com/staroffice/ BTW: I previously did see a "Free beer, not free speach" announcement from Sun about their x86 version of Solaris, but this wouldn't help you legally copying Solaris CD's. > Chayan > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Tathagata Banerjee" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Monday, November 19, 2001 10:15 AM > Subject: [ilug-cal] solaris > > > > does anyone on the list have solaris installaton cd-s? i need them for a > > friend, and maybe they can also be copied and added to our distribution > > network. isn't solaris under the gpl now, after it was made free? > > > > > > _________________________________________________________ > > Do You Yahoo!? > > Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com > > > > > > -- > > To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body > > "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line. > > FAQ: http://www.ilug-cal.org/help/faq_list.html > > > _________________________________________________________ > Do You Yahoo!? > Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com > > > -- > To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body > "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line. > FAQ: http://www.ilug-cal.org/help/faq_list.html > --- Russell McOrmond, Internet Consultant: <http://www.flora.ca/> See http://weblog.flora.org/ for announcements, activities, and opinions Oppose DMCA in Canada!
