well, AFAIk, it's not /dev/ttyS5 or something like that
the driver makes the modem appear on /dev/sm56 or something like that
not very sure, just do a 
ls /dev/*sm56*
and u'll get it probably

There is a need at times to  know how  many days  have  lapsed
since Jan 1 (Julian dates). The easiest way out is to  use the
cal program [ Try: cal -j 10 2001 ... and have a look !]
