InPhase Technologies unveiled a new holographic DVD storage format at
the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas Monday.
Employing the company's Tapestry technology, a single CD-sized disk uses a
series of 1.3-MB holograms to store up to 100 GB of data. The write-once
disks can hold up to 30 minutes of uncompressed high-resolution video or
can archive 20 full-length movies. Expect the holographic media to first
appear in professional video editing products by the end of 2003.
