"Linux" is a brand name when it comes to a specific code base. Because this is Free Software you have a built-in meritocrisy where it doesn't matter who has what reigns. If another project wanted to re-architect the kernel they could do so, using the existing code base, and fork the source. This is exactly what I hope to happen with there being many different kernels to choose from. I think I heard somewhere that there is strength in diversity (Or was it "Unity in Diversity" ? ;-) --- Russell McOrmond, Internet Consultant: <http://www.flora.ca/> See http://weblog.flora.ca/ for announcements, activities, and opinions http://www.flora.ca/osss2002/ "Open Source Solutions Showcase" (Past) Next: GOSLINGS (Getting Open Source and Linux INto GovernmentS) -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
