ok,
regarding modems, here's a quick starter
1. Download the sm56 rpm
2. install it (rpm -ivh) , and --nodeps, if it complains
3. find out the location of sm56.o (the rpm file shud tell u that)
4. go to the concerned dir, and do insmod sm56.o
5. if it complains abt kernel mismatch, do insmod -f sm56.o
6. if u get messages like "Unresolved symobols..blah blah go to
www.peacefulaction.org/sayamindu/pctel.html, and find out the
section regarding fixscript. use the fixscript on the sm56.o file
7. try the insmod comand again
let me know what happens
