Dear all,

I am working in Sarai. Presently I am in Calcutta. I am trying to organise a
Linux introductory workshop with my friends. I have planned it for 18th and
19th. Being an artist myself and as Sarai is majorly working on digital art
and documentary, I was here to develop a network with people of similar
interests.

Few of my friends are interested in Linux and wanted know more about it. Also
I have few friends who are interested in using Linux. Thus I planned for this
workshop.

As I don't have any machine in Calcutta, I tried to hire few. But yesterday
the person who was supposed to supply the machines refused to provide any.
Suddenly I find myself in a soup. Today I got a mail from Sayamindu [I
contacted him regarding Bangla-Penguin project], I discussed this issue with
him and he suggested writing to Lug-Cal for help.

The idea about the workshop is
- To talk about Linux and its possibilities
- Demonstration of installation of Linux
- Sarai will show and talk about its LAP project
- Demo of utility software like Open Office, Gimp & other applications like
PHP, MYSQL, Greenstone etc.

Location is Keyatala, Camp Office, just Opposte to Lalit Kala Studios. Timing
is 1.30pm to 6.30pm.

I think I need two or three computers for this purpose. I shall be grateful
if someone could arrange computers for the workshop. If someone could do
something please call me at 4169568 as I am staying at Patuli and nearest web-
cafe is little far from my place.

Best

Joy
