Pro-LaTeX is not anti-GUI. After all, LaTeX wouldn't be of much use,
despite its tremendous power, if one couldn't see the formatted text on
screen before printing it out. And that needs some kind of GUI.

Speaking purely of text processors (and word processors), getting to
love LaTeX is a little like learning to appreciate sushi, I guess. One
has to develop a taste for it. Writing a casual letter or note? MSWord
is fine. Wring a technical document with lots of math and Greek and
diagrams and references? Tear your hair out with MSWord, breeze through
your job with LaTeX. That's the difference. (My text processor is groff,
which is similar to LaTeX in philosophy -- and power. And available in
all its glory on all Linux systems.)
