Hi,
This thread may be of help.

In a nut shell:

in /etc/fstab your line may be looking like

/dev/hda1       /windows/C      vfat    noauto,user 0 2

(which is mine, yours may have /mnt/windows )

the noauto prevents mounting during boot, change that to auto to let it
mount during boot and remove the user (I think) to remove any restrictions
regarding root/not root.
