Well that's fine...do get in touch when I am back. > this is very generous of sumeet. a geforce 3 is like the best possible > hardware we could get for this purpose. with it, even the formidable > ut2003 should have few problems running smoothly. but i feel i should > warn him that he shall lend this very expensive item (10.5 grand when i > bought one about six months ago) entirely at his own risk. we shall of > course try to be as careful with it as possible, and perhaps we can put > him in charge of his own box, but still i urge him to think twice before > committing himself. We did this very frequently in Hyderabad. My GF3 is more than a yr and a half old, and has been the subject of intense experimentation by the ILUG Hyd folks. The only difference is that this is a 4 day affair and my only concern, if u could call it that, is --What happens to the hardware and related paraphernelia when we aint around...ie at night, when the day's show is over. I beleive COMPASS is at the Park this time. If that is the case, I would believe that my problem is more or less solved. > (don't think for too long, sumeet - you'll break my heart if you > withdraw the offer :-) > amit khan and pk sharma have mentioned the availability of some three or > four computers for our compass use, so sumeet, if you give us your > machine's complete configuration, we can decide whether we need the > whole box or only the display card. Well I aint withdrawing the offer and since I have a PIII 933 MHz with an SB Live! card, with 2 7200rpm 40 GB drives I would guess it would be better if we use the whole box. Plus I have an optical mouse to add to the experience. Moreover, WineX and all the games I mentioned are configured and installed and runnin like greased lightning. I wouldnt wanna increase the pain in the a**. The only thing I would like to have a word with the coordinators and u in particular, Tathagata, (cos ur possibly the closest to my location), is how we arrange the transportation to and from my house, and what happens at the end of the day, when the show is over. Do the boxes remain right there? Is there someone to take care of them? As long as no one apart from the LUGgers, (the LUGgers are basically the refined chaps) tampers with the box while we aint there... I guess I am always game. > - t. /Sumeet -- ___________________________________________________________ This message was brought to you by Linux, the free unix.
