Hi ,
Does your sound card detected by Rh 8.0 . Give the command lsmod in a
terminal & see if sound core , sound this two entry is present. Also you can
say that your sound card is detected if you see no error while KDE is
starting. Now sndconfig is a old way to detect card , I think there is a GUI
based apps to do that in RH 8.0 try to find it in system config in main menu.
Also there is a GUI based Xconfig program try to find it in system config in
main menu also.
