yes, this is the official 3.0 (woody) release. the full set is 7 cd-s. you shall find on it emacs, xemacs, TeX and everything else you need. but there is one problem. some of the iso images of the mother set, downloaded by siddhartha for ilug-cal, contained some corrupt packages. naturally this corruption has persisted in the later generations that are now doing the rounds in ilug-cal. this may cause a few headaches during installation, and prevent the use of certain programmes. to avoid unnecessary harassment, you could follow my recipe: at installtime, install only a bare bootable system consisting of bash, apt-get, lilo and little else. feed all the 7 cd-s to the installer programme to set up a available-software database for apt-get and dselect. then take the shortest path out of the installation programme, boot into your bare system and add packages a few at a time with dselect or apt-get, keeping an eye on the command output as you go along. in this way, you get to be able to reverse a corrupt package's installation immediately, which might have otherwise given you major pains in the neck on the debian installer's uncouth package selection system. if you use bash, you may also want to install programmable completion before starting the package installations, because it eases the whole procedure considerably. so if you still want them, i'll have them ready for you at 11 am on saturday. come up to the first floor, and ask your way to the "professors' lounge", as it is called. as you shall find out, it's actually a decrepit little room with dingy shades and rickety furniture that tries to make up for its pettiness with a high-sounding name. - t. -- cogito, ergo es. -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
