  Interesting that you assume that Microsoft will be reading articles 
written by this community.  I don't think the threat is seen to be quite 
so strong by them.   I think that having an article published ahead of 
time that will form the basis of a speech is useful as it allows for 
peer-review to happen.  Just like in software, the advantages of peer 
review are most often greater than the competative advantages claimed of 
secrecy.
