COMPASS was a grand success for ILUG-Cal. But the job aint over by anyyes...we need to have those slides up on our website as early
means. We need to *&upload slides of all the presentations for the
event, onto our website. What do we do sdg?
as possible.
More importantly, we now need to have a fixed day for our meeting in
place. As someone on the list rightly pointed out a month back, "People
need to make time for the LUG, instead of the LUG making time for them."
What I mean here is that we should be able to declare the date of the
December meet right now in January. Which is possible only when we have
a a fixed day of the month for eg 4th Saturday as the meeting date.
Moreover, this allows us to have an agenda in place well before the meet
and people can come to the meet with a specific mindset.
this "mindset" point has to be there as i have been mailing on this for quite sometime....infact Arvind Yadav was telling us that
he is no more in the direct mailing list due to large/huge number of mails ...but he knows where and when the next meeting will be held. Also,
as COMPASS is over we should have some kind of tech session in each
meeting...topic may vary ...so from a LUG meeting we learn something
too.Because burning 4-5 hours without any solid o/p(apart than
decisions) is harsh.
We need to select a person who takes this responsibility and let it go
around by rotation so that over a period of time, one person doesnt get
burdened/**flamed** ;). Responsibilities=
** Coordinating the offers for talks at the meets
** Deciding the business to be discussed at the meets
** Announcing the agenda a week before the meet
** Ensuring that the meeting begins and ends within a specified time
frame.
i support this.....take my voteOthers can please comment with their suggestions in this regard. If we
need to keep our newly enlisted members we need to be a **little more**
disciplined in our physical activities, to make a visible impact beyond
COMPASS.
also we need to plan on having something interesting in our meeting for the new users as our LUG has grown quite a bit during COMPASS itself...any idea on that....i feel like "installation demo"
can be shown as it pulled some crowd in.....what you guys think....
