good info .. tks .. and welcome

for info of all other members .. i was discussing the need for a
monthly new letter/leaflet/magazine from our lug .. writeups by
our members .. we could start with our experiences of our lug at
compass 2003 .. all volunteers could write from their personal
viewpoint .. and hardcopies could be kept at the meeting on 8th
at the meeting venue itself .. attending members could collect ..
no sending by post to other members (involves money .. ouch !) ..

the ilug-cal-magazine would be on the site too .. for other
members to download/cut&paste/readonline (not recommended) .. or
print local hard copy too

so here's my contribution :

One day in 2002 some members started toying with the idea of
taking part in exhibitions. The choices were Compass, Boi Mela,
Industrial Fair. Many eDiscussions later Compass2003
participation was under way. At that time, Compass too wanted a
Linuxy tilt to its new concept, S/W world. Yayy ! .. and we were
ujnder wayy !

Meetings & meetings, discussions & negotiations later ilug-cal
was in a place where it could become the star of the show. It did
become the star of the show ! Atul from bangalore was drafted in
as a speaker for 2 sessions. And he got compass to give him 3
stalls of a combined length of 9 meters and depth of 2 meters.
And these were handed over to the local lug. That's us ! And the
rest is history. Let other volunteers, now historians, of the
participation and the events that unfolded tell more. Lots of
stories to tell. One being about how Arvind from Goa was able to
catch a train on the day of bandh. End of this contribution to
the ilug-cal-mag !

so this should get some V's moving .. write a para, write a page,
write a book(let) .. its all ok .. looong articles would be
really nice .. can be techie experiences too .. would be spread
over more than one issue .. we could include in the ilug-cal-mag
the date, time of the next meeting and also the exact address of
the venue .. maybe the tech content too (if fixed in time for
finalising the magazine)

..pk
