Hi folks,
Are there any means or softwares, besides search engines, to find a
particular file on the Internet through ftp sites. I read about archie
servers in a book, but telnet-ing to those sites haven't got me anywhere
althogh I have successfully telnet-ed to other sites.. There is a list
of archie servers I found in http://www.hawaii.edu/itsdocs/cen/archie/
and in http://www.archie.emnet.co.uk/services.html , but these sites
couldn't get me anywhere too. Do these archie servers really work, or
are they just signatures of a lost era? A detail description will be
helpful as I am fairly new to using net tools in Linux.
And ...are there any free online file storage systems(through ftp, not
like yahoo briefcase) available?I have heard of RealFTP, but couldn't
make out anything out of that.

Thanks in advance...

Subhankar
