rms or no rms, i think it is better for us to call us iglug-cal: the point of our thrust is more clear to us that way. = if there is a vote and then most certainly i vote against this proposal. not for any other reasons than that of a fork in brand identity. creating a bad signal/noise at this stage is certainly not the general sense. obviously a name is never more than a name, but, it is actually the question of gathering all the metaphors or surplus meanings of our identity towards its principal focus. = if you look at the website with care i suppose your wish could be partially granted, but as that saying went 'beware of what you wish for...' glug, as i think it, gives the focus in a better way than lug, a way that allows us think of ourselves in a more distinct way, and maybe a way even better than this = if we are talking focus and niches, then lets be brutally frank and ask ourselves whatever we need the differentiating for ? what is our USP and why should we change ? these are questions that are best discussed off-list and i welcome any decision to do that. but emotionally propounding and embracing such radical stance[s] are restricted to having a rhyme and a reason for such a change really rms is one of those extremely few men that ever have been there to lend some people some purpose in the actions they were already involved in i dont know -- tathagata am i getting too much carried away? = bet you are, but then i think you have a right to your opinions and protocols for expressing them, since this list is not that stringently moderated [and that is not feasible also]. ignoring the contributions of countless others in the GNU/FLOSS movement, might not be such a complete representation of truths. also if i'm not mistaken tathagata had expressed willing names to come forward in managing the event. i agree with atul in the fact that there seems to be no justification in carrying coals to newcastle and given professional engagements wish to express my inability to be a part of such an effort. however if the effort is on, i wish it all success.
