It seems that IBM is not so inclined to push the Itanium-2 64-bit CPU from Intel, preferring their own Power CPU, also 64 bit, as the preferred way to embrace Linux on the 64-bit platform. Since IBM is emerging as principal heavyweight in terms of Linux servers shipped (Q4 2002 data for US), this is particularly interesting news.
