Hi ALL:
Do i get to denominate myself and renominate SM in my place ;-(
Jokes apart, i welcome the initiative and would be happy to contribute
my bits and pieces to the SRG project. I have given it some thought and
i propose the following for general discussion:
1. A co-corodinator will be welcome addition. this will allow the work
to continue in case of absense of the coordinator or SME. The
co-ordinator and the co-coordinator in consultaion with the SME being
responsible for finally okaying the material.
2. A separate mailing list will diminish the utility of the SRG as it
will not be conducive to the terms and conditions of FLOSS / GNU. I
propose that mails with material for the SRG be marked [SRG-MAT] in the
subject line for easy filtering at team members end. This will keep the
process open and visible to all.
3. Reviews to follow the following format for ease of categorisation:
Name: The name of the book.
Available at: the link to the website
Available in: [HTML - xxx KB] [DVI-xxx MB]...
Useful for: [Beginners] [Intermediate] [advanaced]
Category: [UNIX] [Linux] [Programming][others]
Review: (not more than 500 words)
3. For the newsletter development I would suggest that another team take
up the matter. The SRG contribution limited to providing only the new
reviews for inclusion in newsletter. This will reduce the load and would
provide parity checks on quality of inputs. *I propose to Sankarsan to
head the newsletter development team*.
4. The point of contact for SRG be as follows:
1st Level: Subject Expert
2nd Level: Coordinator /Co Coordinator
3rd Level: Webmaster
These are just thoughts that came to my mind. I would love to see this
initiative GO but i await inputs, views, comments on the same
It is quite a responsibility for a person who has been using linux for
the past few months but given the nature of the project i welcome the
responsibility provided it is okay with other members of the proposed
SRG and ILUG-CAL.
Regards
RVK
