Rohitda, your suggestion is very good, but, we're trying to avoid<SNIPPED>
monopolistic tendencies. So sticking with a particular distro for
newbies isn't a good idea, coz different people have different
skillsets, and accordingly will have different choices of distro.
I know i was stepping into forbidden teritory when i made the suggestion. After all Linux is all about freedom. But i'll quote from a cartoon in the book "Joy of Linux"
Customer: Can i have Linux Please?
Salesperson: Which one? Redhat, SuSE, Mandrake, Elfstone, Independence, PPC, Rock Linux, Trinux, Slackware, Armed, Turbo ... Yellowdog?
Customer: ...oh, um, whichever one is Linux
[Extensions Mine - based on self experience]
Salesperson: That is what i am asking - which one? Redhat, SuSE, Mandrake, Elfstone, Independence, PPC, Rock Linux, Trinux, Slackware, Armed, Turbo ... Yellowdog?
Customer: Umm, the latest version
Salesperson: We have the latest version of Redhat, SuSE, Mandrake, Elfstone, Independence, PPC, Rock Linux, Trinux, Slackware, Armed, Turbo ... Yellowdog?
Customer: Well, Give me Windows
Is a newbie in a position to decide which distribution?
